QA Automation Engineer

Metro Global Solution Center (MGSC) is internal solution partner for METRO, a €31 Billion international wholesaler with operations in more than 30 countries. The store network comprises a total of 623 stores in 21 countries, of which 522 offer out-of-store delivery (OOS), and 94 dedicated depots. In 12 countries, METRO runs only the delivery business by its delivery companies (Food Service Distribution, FSD).

HoReCa and Traders are core customer groups of METRO. The HoReCa section includes hotels, restaurants, catering companies as well as bars, cafés and canteen operators. The Traders section includes small grocery stores and kiosks. The majority of all customer groups are small and medium-sized enterprises as well as sole traders. METRO helps them manage their business challenges more effectively.

MGSC, location wise is present in Pune (India), Düsseldorf (Germany) and Szczecin (Poland). We provide HR, Finance, IT & Business operations support to 31 countries, speak 24+ languages and process over 18,000 transactions a day. The QA Automation Engineer ensures that the platform is stable, reliable, and continuously improving. You will drive the automation strategy, embed testing into CI/CD pipelines, and guide development teams on best practices while enabling faster, higher-quality delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and continuously improve the testing strategy across all layers of the testing pyramid
• Develop, maintain, and execute automated end-to-end (E2E), API, and performance tests
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to ensure reliable and fast delivery
• Act as a consultant to development teams on best practices for unit, integration, and component testing
• Drive improvements in testing frameworks, tools, and processes across the platform
• Monitor, analyze, and report on test results, ensuring sufficient coverage and reliability
• Collaborate with product owners, developers, and stakeholders to align testing with business requirements
• Participate in code reviews with a focus on testability and maintainability

Education:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Work Experience:

• Proven 6 to 8 years of experience as a QA Automation Engineer, Test Engineer, or similar role
• Hands-on experience with automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright) and performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling)
• Strong experience in API testing (e.g., Postman, RestAssured)
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
• Familiarity with Java or JavaScript for writing automated tests
• Solid understanding of the testing pyramid and balancing test coverage across layers

• Strong communication and consulting skills with the ability to coach developers and peers
• Ability to work cross-functionally in agile environments
• Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on product stability and reliability
• Fluency in English (written and spoken)

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with observability tools (e.g., Grafana, DataDog, GCP Dashboards)
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes for testing environments
• Knowledge of security testing practices and performance optimization
• Exposure to contract testing approaches and tools
