SAP Data Migration Specialist

Metro Global Solution Center (MGSC) is internal solution partner for METRO, a €31 Billion international wholesaler with operations in more than 30 countries. The store network comprises a total of 623 stores in 21 countries, of which 522 offer out-of-store delivery (OOS), and 94 dedicated depots. In 12 countries, METRO runs only the delivery business by its delivery companies (Food Service Distribution, FSD). 

HoReCa and Traders are core customer groups of METRO. The HoReCa section includes hotels, restaurants, catering companies as well as bars, cafés and canteen operators. The Traders section includes small grocery stores and kiosks. The majority of all customer groups are small and medium-sized enterprises as well as sole traders. METRO helps them manage their business challenges more effectively. 

MGSC, location wise is present in Pune (India), Düsseldorf (Germany) and Szczecin (Poland). We provide HR, Finance, IT & Business operations support to 31 countries, speak 24+ languages and process over 18,000 transactions a day. The main objective of the LUCA program is to successfully upgrade METRO’s Finance to SAP S/4HANA to ensure business continuity and avoid security and compliance risks. The LUCA program is, in addition, a critical enabler of METRO’s strategy to achieve standardization, harmonization, and centralization.

As a SAP Data Migration Specialist in the LUCA team, you play a key role in driving the success of the LUCA transformation project. You will define and execute data migration plans for each solution, coordinating between legacy and new systems to design and implement mechanisms for extracting, cleansing, transforming, enriching, loading, and validating critical data. By ensuring seamless and accurate data migration, you will enable the successful implementation of METRO’s strategic goals, contributing to the success of the LUCA transformation.

Your responsibilities

• Collaborate with the implementation partner to contribute to the Data Migration plan and approach
• Monitor and review Design Documents, Value Mapping, and technical solutions to ensure reusability and optimization
• Perform initial technical validation of Migration Load reports and manage the defect process efficiently
• Align end-to-end with partner systems on processes, tasks, and timelines for Master Data execution
• Drive daily mock meetings with stakeholders and weekly progress reviews with Business Data Owners
• Ensure compliance with quality audits and requirements throughout the migration process.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field, with solid knowledge of SAP Data Migration practices
• 5+ years of experience in SAP Data Migration, with knowledge of SAP BODS and Migration Cockpit (File Staging & Direct Transfer approaches)
• Preferable experience with Finance, Controlling, and Procurement data objects
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, paired with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Fluent English in written and spoken form with willingness and ability to travel
