Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Management:
- Lead and manage a team of data scientists, AI specialists, data engineers & BI developers
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to team members
- Orchestrate C-Level initiatives and make sure all strategic initiatives are aligned and coordinated
- Regularly reviews progress and performance expectations with leadership teams across the organization, providing expectations, performance planning, feedback, training & development, and performance discussions.
- Plan and execute country roll out and implementation of strategic initiatives
- Mentors, Coaches, and trains employees at various levels throughout the company.
- Lead by example in New-Ways-of-Working in line with Metro guiding principles
2. Strategic Planning:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive data and AI strategy aligned with the company’s objectives
- Identify opportunities for leveraging data and AI to drive business value
- Define and implement a strategic roadmap for the CoE, aligning with the organization's goals and objectives to maximize the impact of data and AI
- Establish a Center of Excellence (CoE) for Data and AI to drive best practices, foster innovation, and ensure the highest standards of quality across all data and AI initiatives
- Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate data and AI initiatives into the overall business strategy
- Collaborate with Leadership at global Metro AG sites, conduct workshops to identify critical to business problems and convert them into projects
3. Project Management:
- End to end accountability from concept design of a business transformation (Data and AI Projects) to implementation
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
- Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure effective communication throughout the project lifecycle
4.Technical Expertise:
- Stay current with the latest advancements in data science and AI technologies
- Provide technical guidance and support to the team
- Evaluate and implement new tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance data and AI capabilities
5.Data Governance and Compliance:
- Establish and enforce data governance policies and best practices
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards
- Promote data quality and integrity across the organization
Qualifications
1. Experience:
- 12+ years of experience in data science, artificial intelligence, or related fields
- Proven experience in managing and leading data and AI teams
- Demonstrated success in delivering complex data and AI projects
2. Educational Qualification:
- Minimum Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline is preferred
- Graduate and Postgraduates
3. Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL
- Experience with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar
- Strong understanding of data warehousing, ETL processes, and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark)
- Strong understanding of cloud platform and org level implementation expertise
4. Soft Skills:
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
